MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) Proponents of a proposal to merge one of Vermont's oldest dairy cooperatives with the national Dairy Farmers of America say the move would provide the co-op needed cash and a better way to market their milk-products.

The high winds overnight have affected many Vermont farms and farmers. Approximately 1 out of 3 Vermonters is without power due to the high winds. A second round of high winds ranging from 40 to 45 MPH is expected to affect Windsor and Windham Counties around 11 A.M. and winding down around 4 P.M.
|Waitsfield Company Products Recalled Due to Adulteration and Being Produced Without Inspection|

The Simmering Bone, a Waitsfield company, is recalling approximately 56 fl-ounces of beef and chicken bone broth products that were adulterated and produced without the benefit of state or federal inspection, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture has announced.

The Agency of Agriculture consists of four divisions:
Division of Administration
The Administration Division oversees the operation of the Agency, and protects the interests of the consumer and the agricultural community in the state, the region and the nation.
Division of Agricultural Development
The Agricultural Development Division provides a leadership role in developing local, regional, national and international markets for Vermont products.
Division of Agricultural Resource Management and Environmental Stewardship
The division of Agricultural Resource Management and Environmental Stewardship, or Plant Industry, regulates pesticides, feed, seed and fertilizers, and administers the states agricultural water quality programs including AAPs, and the LFO and MFO laws. It also provides technical assistance and cost shares to farmers to insure compliance of these programs.
Division of Food Safety and Consumer Protection
The Food Safety and Consumer Protection divsion consists of four sections: Animal Heath, Consumer Protection, Dairy, and Meat Inspection.
